SRI LANKA USES SITTI SYSTEMS

The presence of SITTI in the Indian sub-continent expands, thanks to the recent contract signed with AASL (Airport and Aviation Services [Sri Lanka] Limited), the Sri Lankan Air Navigation Service Provider and also the Civil Airports Operator. The contract covers one of the key elements in the modernization of the Sri Lanka’s aviation infrastructure in keeping with the latest technological developments in the Air Traffic Communications, with the supply of two brand new Voice Communication Systems (VCS) in Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Colombo Airport, Ratmalana (RMA), and the installation of new VOIP radio transmitters and receivers (provided by JOTRON).

The two Voice Communication Systems belong to the MULTIFONO® M800IP® family. The significant number of requested features and interfaces are supported by M800IP® with the purpose of creating an integrated network between the two sites, so that operators on one site can access resources belonging to the other site, according to Customer policies. The BIA system envisages 23 Controller Working Positions (CWP), 24 VOIP radio channels, 66 analogue radios, more than 120 telephone lines (VOIP+analogue), while the system in Ratmalana encompasses other 25 CWPs, more than 70 telephone lines and 68 radio channels (VOIP+analogue). The two systems are interconnected via E1 and VOIP links to allow resource sharing.

The high level of functions integration at all CWPs allows controllers to safely, easily and intuitively interface both Telephone connections and Radio communication facilities provided by the MULTIFONO® M800IP® VCS system, which provides resource site-sharing capabilities, e.g. making it possible to define which radios on one site can be directly accessed from another site.

SITTI is a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier worldwide, capable of giving prompt and top edge solutions to Customer needs, both in the Civilian and Military fields. The leading edge, redundant, non-blocking architecture of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® provides flexibility and modularity for easy expansion and addition of further functionalities.

ASEC COMPLETES CAUCASUS COVERAGE

In the first half of 2020, SITTI will be providing a new system to Azerbaijan, more precisely to the Airspace Supervision & Efficiency Center (ASEC) in Baku, which is part of Azeraeronavigatsiya (AZANS), the Azerbaijan Air Navigation Service Provider. ASEC has been designed for 3 main functions :
• air traffic flow management, with the purpose to optimize the airspace utilization in the region, acting as the connecting point between CFMU in Brussels (Eurocontrol) and Singapore
• contingency center to be able to “clear the sky” in case of failure of the main ATC system in Baku,
• virtual tower to provide Air Traffic Services in Gabbala remotely from Baku.

With the help of ASEC, Azerbaijan is aiming at becoming a strategic partner of both Eurocontrol and the Asian Flow Planning Center in the field of airspace organization, using international flight planning and data distribution systems. ASEC is also responsible for improving the existing route network structure in the Caucasian region and local risk analysis, quality monitoring and standards compliance.

SITTI, through Thales LAS France SAS, will be helping ASEC with the provision of a brand new Voice Communication System (VCS) of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® family and a recorder/playback system (VRS). The supplied M800IP® VCS is made of a fully ED137 system, with duplicated LAN. The requirement of interfacing analogue VHF/UHF radios and analogue telephone lines is accomplished by modular interfaces that can at any moment in time be increased in number or upgraded to fully VOIP ED137 connections, as soon as the connected sites move to the IP technology. M800IP® is in fact capable of coping with different communication technologies at the same time. Some integrated Controller Working Positions (CWP) complete the supply to the ASEC Crisis Room, Supervision Room and Virtual Tower.

Following the important installations in the rest of Caucasian area, with the provision of the above described system to ASEC, SITTI is going to complete the coverage of all Nations between Iran and Russia, through which a large part of the air traffic between Europe and Asia is flowing and constantly increasing. The MULTIFONO® M800IP® Voice Communication System family guarantees the Customer an excellent coverage of its needs and expansion plans.

SITTI VCS UPGRADE IN GEORGIA

Following the positive experience with the Voice Communication System (VCS) from SITTI, the Georgian Air Navigation Service Provider SAKAERONAVIGATSIA decided to upgrade the MULTIFONO® M800IP® VCS systems deployed in the country to support simulation, frequency monitoring, local analogue radios. The affected sites are the major Georgian cities: Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi.

The upgrade of the existing Voice Communication System in Tbilisi will allow simulation exercises in the dedicated simulation room close to the Tbilisi ACC Centre: tower controllers and pilots simulate their activities for training purposes in all weather and traffic conditions. This is accomplished through the flexible way the MULTIFONO® M800IP® is designed, thus allowing any new addition of positions and simulated radio/telephone lines. The frequency monitoring facility being implemented at the Georgian air traffic control centers gives controllers and technicians a clear view on how radio resources are being used in real time.

SITTI is a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier worldwide, capable of giving prompt and top edge solution answers to Customer needs, both in the Civilian and Military fields. The leading edge, redundant, non-blocking architecture of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® provides flexibility and modularity for easy expansion and addition of further functionalities.

SUCCESSFUL SAT IN INDONESIA

Continuing its expansion in the VCS market, SITTI completed the installation and set-up of two brand new MULTIFONO® M800IP® Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and ancillary equipment at two Indonesian sites. The supplied VCS systems come along with the latest Controller Working Position (CWP) version that allows controllers to easily and intuitively interface the Radio communication facilities provided by the MULTIFONO® M800IP® system. Installation, configuration, setting to work and commissioning phases have been successfully followed by Site Acceptance Tests. These latter proved the complete adherence of the supplied system to the Customer requirements and its positive response to the local operational needs.

The latest and most advanced IP technology provided by the MULTIFONO® M800IP® VCS family is put at the Customer disposal, together with analogue-to-standard IP modules. The supplied VCS systems is capable of interfacing analogue and VOIP radio channels, these latter based on the world VOIP ED137 standard, in order to provide local ATC controllers all the required facilities to best manage the traffic under their responsibility.
