Tower Integrated Information System is a hardware/ software solution for airports of any size or Remote Towers, which concentrates different data sources into one integrated product that reduces the number of objects on the controller working position desks. The ATC applications can be arranged in configurable desktops and layouts, each dealing with different management aspects, according to the Customer needs.

SITTI COMPLETED SUPPLY TO INDIA

The tight schedule defined for the supply of VCS systems to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has not being delayed due to the Covid virus emergency situation. The last two lots found their way to their final destination according to the agreements with the customer. The last boxes of the last lot left SITTI in the first week of September to reach the Indian sub-continent.

This important contract was awarded to SITTI in June 2019, after a very competitive bidding process. It represents a big step towards the modernization of their Air Traffic Control infrastructure all over the country and one of the biggest successes for SITTI.

The large amount of equipment foreseen by the contract proved the capability of SITTI to cope with high volumes of production,” – Marco Scalia, SITTI Program Manager for this project, said – “by at the same time keeping the same quality standards for all of them, according to the strict applicable analysis and process standards applied by the company.

SIMULATION IN MYANMAR BY SITTI

The introduction of the new VCS is contributing to the development of the country, by ensuring a higher level of flight safety and reliable communications. The system also included a small simulation facility for the local Air Traffic Management Centre (ATMC).

In order to further improve the situational awareness of air operators and their prompt response to all possible events that may occur over the country, a new simulation system is going to be supplied by SITTI. This includes a number of controller working positions from which trainees can simulate the various route conditions, in order to provide a better service for safe flights.

CAAC CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL TO SITTI

SITTI is proud to announce that on July 24th, 2020, it received the CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL for its MULTIFONO® M800IP® voice communication system from CAAC, the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The certificate states that the system “complies with the civil aviation CNS equipment certification rules (CCAR-87) and relevant provisions”.

This very important achievement has been reached with the help of the Beijing XiDi Communication Technology Ltd company that provided all required support and local knowledge. The certificate has been obtained after submitting the M800IP® VCS system to a large set of tests and after providing extensive proof of compliance to international rules and standards, including (but not limited to) ED137. This latter is the standard issued by EUROCAE for the definition of the way VoIP (Voice over IP) shall be used in the ATM field.

Mr. Giuseppe Vasquez is the SITTI Program Manager who followed all procedures and steps that led to the issue of the certificate. “This important result once more underlines the high competence of our company, capable of submitting to CAAC a product that fully passed all technical and compliance steps. CAAC requirements are comprehensibly very strict and demanding, because of the high responsibility they have to ensure voice service continuity for a safer sky over China”.

SITTI SYSTEMS FOR WESTERN INDIA

The supply of VCS system to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) is proceeding according to the schedule. This important contract was awarded to SITTI in September 2019 (read here for more details), after a very competitive bidding process. It represents a big step towards the modernization of their Air Traffic Control infrastructure all over the country and one of the biggest successes for SITTI.

The contract is intended to serve 45 airports across the country, plus Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) and Specialized Maintenance Unit (SMU) with a large number of Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and Voice Recording Systems (VRS). The provision of the systems would have occurred in 5 lots. Two of them, covering the North-East and North region of India have already been shipped, and now it is the turn of the Western area:

  • 11 MAIN VCS Systems
  • 3 FALLBACK VCS Systems
  • 170 Controller Working Positions (CWP)
  • 22 Interfaces to Radio Remote Sites
  • 11 VRS Recording Systems

SITTI – 2nd LOT DELIVERED TO INDIA

The contract between SITTI and AAI (Airport Authority of India) is a very large one, including a moltitude of systems to be deployed nationwide. This major contract for Supply Installation Testing & Commissioning (SITC) of a large number of Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and Voice Recording Systems (VRS) is divided into 5 consignment lots, corresponding to 5 big areas in the Indian subcontinent. The contract is intended to serve 45 airports across the country, plus Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) and Specialized Maintenance Unit (SMU).

The first lot has been delivered in December 2019 according to the agreed schedule (here is the relevant press release). The second part of the supply left Italy in February 202 after successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) by the inspectors deputed from Airports Authority of India (AAI) for checking compliance to the specifications. The following ten stations are going to be equipped with Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and Voice Recording Systems (VRS):

As announced in last September (here), after competitive bidding SITTI has been awarded a major contract for Supply Installation Testing & Commissioning (SITC) of a large number of Voice Communication Systems (VCS) and Voice Recording Systems (VRS). Furthermore, these systems are natively equipped with plug-in interfaces that allow connection to analogue and digital links of any different kind.

The VCS systems to be deployed at 45 airports across the country (ranging from small airports to very large ACC centers), Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) and Specialized Maintenance Unit (SMU) will be in charge of managing local and remote radio stations, where appropriate gateway devices will grant the possibility of taking full advantage of the standard ED 137 performances.

The provision of such a large number of systems and ancillary equipment to the Airport Authority of India comes after other very successful projects in the same area, where SITTI products could be evaluated as the best choice for the fulfilment of the challenging requirements set by the management of big air traffic movements. SITTI FOR THE FAR EAST

Myanmar is a strategic country on the routes between Europe and the Far East area and Australia. Because of its long stretch, practically all flights heading to Thailand, Vietnam, Southern China shall overfly Myanmar, former Burma.

Through a Thai company, SAMART, SITTI is about to deliver a new MULTIFONO® M800IP® to the Yangon Air Control Centre (ACC). This will help the further development of the country, by ensuring a higher level of flight safety and reliable communications. The Yangon (former Rangoon) ACC, half way in the almost 2000 km long country, is a perfect place from where to control the air traffic flow.

The MULTIFONO® M800IP Voice Communication System (VCS) comes along with 22 Controller Working Positions (CWP) and is equipped with the capability of interfacing 32 analogue 4W E&M radio channels plus 64 VoIP ED137 radios; as for the telephone part of the system, 48 analogue 2W/4W E&M lines and 30 VoIP connections are supported.

Simulation facilities for the Air Traffic Management Centre (ATMC) are also included with additional 5 controller positions.

THAILAND, SITTI SUPPLY

The Hua Hin International Airport, near Bangkok, required 3 Voice Communication Systems (VCS) for widening the scope and depth of its air traffic control capabilities. Through its local reprensative, V&S COMMUNICATION Ltd, SITTI has been awarded this supply.

The VCS systems are used at the airport according to an double redundancy mode:
• The main VCS system is utilized for normal operations (MOPS)
• Should the main system be for any reason not available, the second VCS (fallback) will take over
• Should even the fallback system be unavailable, the third system (CON/TRA) will be replace the faulty systems and guarantee full and safe air traffic control by simple reconfiguration

While the main and fallback systems are very similar in size and interfacing capability (12 controller working position each, plus 60 analogue + VoIP radio channels, 30 telephone lines, GPS precision distribution clock), the CON/TRA system has originally been thought of as a training (TRA) system. In case of emergency (when the other two systems are not available), this latter system can enter into service as a contingency (CON) system. Although slightly less equipped (8 CMP, 40 radios, 24 telephone lines), this will allow local air traffic controllers to continue their work even in the toughest conditions, thus guaranteeing safe and uninterrupted service to aircrafts.
