Voice Communication Systems (VCS) by SITTI represent the best choice for military and civil organizations worldwide, thanks to the unparalleled reliability, expandability and resilience. This is also testified by the large number of installations that are being undergone in many continents. Among these, noteworthy is the supply of 6 brand new MULTIFONO® M800IP® Voice Communication Systems (VCS) to the Indonesian air force for their SOCs (Sector Operation Centers).

Through a local company named PT. DIANANGKASA RAYA, SITTI has been awarded the provision of voice handling and management systems for 5 radar stations. Such systems are equipped with interface boards capable of connecting to analogue and digital links, both radio and telephone, including VoIP ones (Voice over IP). SITTI systems come along with the native capability of being interfaced to radios from any manufacturer, thus making it the most customizable system available on the market.

The supplied SOC system is also accompanied by recording system from SITTI. The VRS800G recorder is a no-single-point-of-failure system offering an extremely high performance and reliability level, capable of recording (and obviously of synchronously reproducing) both audio and video sources. This allows to keep track of both A/G and G/G communications (Air/Ground) (Ground/Ground) by means of a client/server recording system capable of storing long term information and events logging, thus allowing air traffic controllers to access and reproduce all conversations of interest. The interface to the existing MULTIFONO® VCS is guaranteed thanks to appropriate interface boards, capable of dealing with all communication protocols in use at the base.

The recorded data replay system permits operators to synchronize and have access to both audio and events occurred at the time of recording, so as to allow them to reconstruct the exact sequence of operations that took place. This is an important feature, especially for military purposes, in order to be able to help identifying possible targets and correcting error or providing alternative flight routes.

SITTI is a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier worldwide, capable of giving prompt and top edge solutions to Customer needs, both in the Civilian and Military fields. The leading edge, redundant, non-blocking architecture of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® provides flexibility and modularity for easy expansion and addition of further functionalities, conformant to the ED 137 standard.

Peace-keeping missions and emergency situations see the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare – AM) as a primary actor worldwide, either by its own or together with other Nations under a common coordination and command. The readiness and operation of the deployed force is continuously verified and improved by constant exercise to be ready at any moment in time to intervene. Field deployable Voice Communication Systems (VCS) allow rapid and effective access to operational awareness and air control. The use of deployable systems is of utmost importance especially in possibly hostile scenarios, where the air force may have been given the task of patrolling a given territory and check all flying vehicles.

The second RTC (Reparto Tecnico Comunicazioni) (Technical Communications Department) in Bari Palese under the command of Colonel Antonio Evangelio has been provided by SITTI with a new deployable systems, ready to be utilized in all theaters, when Italy is involved in operations outside the national borders – abbreviated as OFCN (Operazioni Fuori dai Confini Nazionali). This kind of deployable systems have been designed to guarantee the air force an extremely high level of reliability and expandability. They belong to the MULTIFONO® M800IP® family which is also extensively used in civil applications. Of course, the military usage has additional requirements (such as encryption, meteorological adverse conditions, temperature range, etc.) that are fully satisfied by SITTI systems, as testified by the large number of similar military systems being operative around the globe.

The initial configuration of the supplied system is easily expandable by simply adding the relevant hardware and configuring it, without compromising nor affecting current operations. Duplication of all network elements ensure the absence of any single point-of-failure that may jeopardize the system usage. Radio connections, telephone links, intercom facilities, legal recording are part of the system itself, so as to provide the air force with all needed resources for a very rapid tactical deployment in any operative scenario.

The Brazilian air space is subdivided into 4 areas, each of which managed by a dedicated Air Control Center (ACC), named CINDACTA, acronym for “Centro Integrado de Defesa Aérea e Controle de Tráfego Aéreo” (Integrated Air Traffic Control and Air Defense Center). With the objective of expanding and enhancing the remote AFIS applications provided by these centers, a significant number of stations will be provided with “MultiFunctional Terminals” developed by SITTI.

MultiFunctional Terminals allow operators to have simultaneous access to integrated communications to and from SITTI VCS (Voice Communication System) and any other third-party application. External applications that can be integrated are of any kind. In the case of the Brazilian remote AFIS service, the following ones have been selected, although further future expansion is possible: Audio Center, Electronic Strips, Meteo and Cameras. The installed applications run in parallel and present their information on a single monitor, thus reducing the amount of unnecessary hardware on the operator’s desk, therefore enhancing his situational awareness and working comfort.

Multifunctional Terminals, based on the MT800 Platform developed by SITTI, will be delivered to the following stations:

  1. CINDACTA 1: Barbacena
  2. CINDACTA 2: Corumbá
  3. CINDACTA 2: Uruguaiana
  4. CINDACTA 3: Fernando de Noronha
