MILITARY VCS ENHANCEMENT BY SITTI

Italy is a full member of NATO and cooperates in keeping the control over the National skies in the frame of a multilateral defence system. As technology improves, even the military assets shall be upgraded in order to cope with new features and to be able to respond to any threat in the shortest time possible. Communications play here a fundamental role.

The NATO ACCS (Air Command and Control Systems) in Italy has the increasing need of integrating existing communication links with the latest technological achievements, without losing the overall capability of simultaneously accessing different kinds of networks connecting current TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) devices and more modern VoIP (Voice Over IP) equipment.

The existing VCS (Voice Communication System) deployed at the air defence centres have therefore to be upgraded to accommodate and fully integrate ISDN links and IP connections to provide military operators access to all facilities and services offered by the communication radio and telephone devices installed at different sites on the Italian National territory.

Integration of different technologies is a task that is very common in the civil Air Traffic Control field. Military installations have additional priorities and need special further features that are specific to the task of providing an efficient and effective defence to a Nation. Among these, the capability of properly dealing with clear and encrypted (black/red) voice and data streams.

Italy is currently undergoing an upgrade of its military control centres in order to put together all the above-mentioned functions, under the coordination of NATO and its modernization and improvement programs like NATINAMDS.

Through the consolidated architecture of SITTI MULTIFONO® M800IP® VCS family, SITTI is capable of supporting the integration and transition to VoIP in a very smooth, efficient and effective way, thus ensuring military advanced features and full reliability of their systems.

SITTI IN DARA SAKOR

Dara Sakor is an area along the coast of Cambodia that is undergoing an extensive development. Due to the important drivers for the economy of the area, including the attractiveness of the touristic offer, new investments are foreseen. The nearby airport is going to be enlarged and potentiated to cope with an expected increased traffic volume. Tourism is an important driver of the economy in the region, and therefore appropriate investments are planned to sustain the demand for easy reachability of the local resorts.

The supply of a new Voice Communication System (VCS) has been awarded to SITTI, through SAMART Corp, for the local management of the air traffic. The system encompasses 4 controller working positions connected to 10 tx/rx VOIP radio channels and 10 analogue telephone lines, although the intrinsic flexibility of the architecture of SITTI systems allows to add new positions and/or interface boards without any disruption to the ongoing data and voice traffic.

The active contribution given by SITTI to the development and standardization of the EUROCAE ED-137 world standard on VOIP in ATM (Air Traffic Management) guarantees the customer of a complete adherence of SITTI systems to the latest available document requirements, further confirmed by the large base of installed VOIP systems all around the world.

SITTI is a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier worldwide, capable of giving prompt and top edge solutions to Customer needs, both in the Civilian and Military fields. The leading edge, redundant, non-blocking architecture of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® provides flexibility and modularity for easy expansion and addition of further functionalities.

UKRAINE ACCS MODERNIZED BY SITTI

Ukraine is a special customer to SITTI. The extremely good relationship between our company and the Ukrainian Air Navigation Service Provider UkSATSE date back more than 20 years ago, when the first modern Voice Communication System (VCS) was installed to cope with the forecast of a significant increase in air traffic in that region.

The good performance of the provided systems and their compliance to the requirements set by the customer paved the way to the modernisation of the entire Air Traffic Control infrastructure in Ukraine.

SITTI is now in the process of providing two brand new MULTIFONO® M800IP® systems to the ACCs (Area Control Centers) of Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk. These systems represent a significant step forward towards the full introduction of VOIP (Voice over IP) features, according to the latest international standards, including ED 137.

Of course, existing non-VOIP telephone lines and radio channels are also fully managed by means of gateway boards allowing legacy digital/analogue links to be treated as they were natively VOIP. All together, the two systems have the capability of fully interfacing more than 44 analogue radio channels, 86 VOIP radio channels, 100 analogue telephone lines, E1 digital and IP links.

A significant number of touch screen panels for Controller Working Positions (CWP) is also part of the supply: more than 40 panels of different kinds are going to be installed at Odessa, plus another 30 at Dnipropetrovsk. Controllers will benefit of specially designed features that are very important to the customer, such as closed group call, conference notification tones, call hunting, briefing, etc.

The long lasting good reputation of SITTI as a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier is once again testified by these supplies, which will allow UKSATSE to take full benefit of the latest technological achievements and standard compliance.
