SITTI SERVER BASED VCS TO CZECH REPUBLIC

With the objective of enhancing the services provided, ANS-CZ (Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic) have awarded SITTI the supply of two brand new VOIP server-based VCSs (Voice Communication Systems) to be installed at Prague Airport and Jeneč.

The M800IP-S systems based on COTS servers architecture being supplied to ANS-CZ are fully compliant to the most recent specifications set by the world famous EUROCAE ED-137 standard, which defines the way Voice Over IP (VOIP) shall be used for Air Traffic Control purposes.

The two systems that are going to be supplied to the Czech Republic have the capability of supporting 80 controller working positions (CWPs) that may be freely switched from one system to the other to cope with changing environmental and operational needs, without losing performance. The communication capability of the supplied systems is currently of 540 VoIP ED-137 radio channels and 100 VoIP telephone ED-137 links, although these figures can be expanded at any moment in the future with no detriment to the overall functionality and performance. Legal recording is also part of the supply.

“We are very pleased of the award of these systems.” – Pietro Lucioli, SITTI dedicated program manager, said – “The introduction of these latest-generation VCSs will allow ANS-CZ fully exploiting the most recent technological achievements provided by M800IP-S for an extremely efficient and cost-effective management of the skies they are responsible for”.

ARABIA CHOOSES SITTI AGAIN

Through Communication Experts Co., SITTI is going to provide Saudi Arabia with a VCS (Voice Communication Switching System). The new VCS system will be installed at the King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA) in Riyadh to train operators on the control and management of military missions for patrolling and controlling of the national air space.

The system that is going to be installed belongs to the consolidated MULTIFONO® M800IP® family that has already been supplied to this country. The flexibility, modularity and scalability native characteristics of this VCS make it the best choice when it comes to providing efficient and effective air traffic control (ATC) from small airfields to large Area Control Centres (ACC).

VCS systems like this have already successfully been installed at other premises in Saudi Arabia, following the long-lasting good reputation SITTI has accumulated in the past decades of active presence in the ATC market and especially in the Middle East.

The M800IP® VCS platform at the Air Academy envisages 6 controller working positions (CWP) from which controllers can have full access to all features provided by this technologically advanced system, coping with a large number of both analogue and SIP telephone lines as well as analogue and VoIP radio links. SITTI supply to KFAA also includes a Crash Fire and Rescue (CFR) System for emergency situations handling and a triple redundant GPS clock subsystem.

SITTI is a primary VCS manufacturer and supplier worldwide, capable of giving prompt and top edge solution answers to Customer needs, both in the Civilian and Military fields. The leading edge, redundant, non-blocking architecture of the MULTIFONO® M800IP® provides flexibility and modularity for easy expansion and addition of further functionalities.

VOIP GATEWAY BY SITTI IN MOZAMBIQUE

Beira is the second largest city in Mozambique, on the Indian Ocean with more than half a million people. Beira hosts the largest harbour in the area, which is of great importance for Mozambique itself, but even more for other neighbour countries that do not have direct access to the sea. All these aspects make of Beira a very important city, whose airport plays a fundamental role in the economy of the whole country.

The International Airport at Beira is currently using a voice communication system (VCS) by SITTI for the control of the air traffic in the region. The VCS installed at Beira belongs to the MULTIFONO® M600S family. This latter is using the TDM technology for allowing controllers to have access to the communication facilities of the airport.

VOIP is going to be gradually introduced in the country. Because of the different technology used, VOIP radios and telephone lines cannot be directly interfaced to the Voice Communication System. To allow them to be effectively connected to the VCS, an appropriate VOIP Gateway System shall be installed, capable of converting different protocols and signals.

This is the task performed by SITTI’s Gateway Voice System (GVS) that makes it possible for the customer to continue using the current TDM system and at the same time interface and fully use new VOIP radios and telephone lines. Each card in the GVS can handle up to 8 connections to remote radios or telephones, thus giving Beira International Airport all needed communication capacity.

SITTI LANDS ON THE HAINAN ISLAND

Haikou is the main city on the isle of Hainan, in the south of China. It is the most populated city on the island with almost 2 million people. For the improvement and expansion of the local airport, SITTI has been awarded the supply of a brand new MULTIFONO® M800IP® Voice Communication Solution (VCS), through the very good work and capabilities of our local representative, Beijing XiDi Communication Technology Co., Ltd.

Over the past years, SITTI has been installing a large number of VCS systems throughout China. The new order coming from this big country underlines and makes explicit the excellent reputation that our company has gained in the Far East, thanks to its top level systems, capable of adapting themselves to many different environments and capable of managing the Air Traffic Control of small airfields as well as large ACC centres.

The new VCS has been thought for the improvement and increase of the traffic management capacity of the local Haikou Meilan International Airport. It envisages a set of controller working positions, capable of interfacing both analogue and digital radios and telephone lines, with all the features and facilities available at larger installations.

This allows the system to get all benefits from the native straightforward flexibility of its MULTIFONO® IP-based architecture, without losing the possibility of providing full access to all kinds of interfaces and lines. The system is fully complying with the most recent standards issued by EUROCAE in its ED-137, which defined the rules for the use of VoIP (Voice over IP) in the Air Traffic Control and Management fields.

The new system is seamlessly expandable at any moment in time by simply adding new controller working positions and/or modules. Their configuration can be autonomously carried out by the local staff by means of the supervision and maintenance system, which is also part of the supply: they can be put into operation in a matter of minutes, thus significantly enhancing the air traffic control capabilities of Haikou operators.
