OCEANIC HF COVERAGE THROUGH SITTI VCS
The Brazilian ANSP, CISCEA, launched a project for renewing the HF radio coverage over the Atlantic ocean by replacing obsolete radio devices installed in Recife, Belem and Rio de Janeiro and connecting the new ones to the Atlantic ACC VCS system. The radios will be initially connected to the CINDACTA3 technical room (in Recife) via TDM network. The project includes the possibility to be updated to operate through MPLS network.
The Recife VCS is in charge to grant automatic receiver and transmitter radio pairing, frequency tuning, squelch selection, SELCALL, ALE, etc. managing multi-site HF remote radio stations, each one configured with multiple transmitter and receiver equipment. The project includes the possibility of expanding the implemented architecture to allow interoperability with the military HF radio network.
The MULTIFONO® VCS systems by SITTI are natively capable of coping with the multi-site configuration required by this project, allowing radios at different sites to be connected to the VCS with complete control over communications, and by providing appropriate usage functions to operators. HF Multisite operation cannot use the VHF offset facilities. For this reason, and due to the HF audio signal characteristic, HF Best Signal Selection (BSS) requires advanced audio analysis algorithm to operate.
The wide experience acquired by SITTI in the Air Traffic Control field is once again put at the Customer disposal by exploiting SITTI integrated solutions to fulfil the needs of HF coverage over the ocean, thus contributing to the safety of all flights to and from Southern America.
