SITTI GATEWAYS ALLOW FILES AND DATA ON HF

30/06/2021

The Brazilian Air Force is aiming at allowing the transmission of files and data over their existing HF radio network, not just limited to voice. This project, where SITTI is playing a key role, integrates itself with another project that is targeting the enhancement of the HF coverage of the oceanic region under Brazilian responsibility.

SITTI is providing gateway functions between external systems generating or requesting data files and the HF radios. This allows external third-party applications to access the military HF network and to send/receive data over it. SITTI is in charge of interfacing such applications and provide them with proper access to the network, according to customer requirements, over the INTRAER or ATN-BR networks.

Local and remote operators will be permitted to select the set of radios that best suit their mission and to dynamically associate such radios to external applications for data transmission/reception to/from aircrafts. This contributes to the optimisation of the usage of the entire system and network and improves their overall performance. Voice communications are of course always possible.

This project integrates the standard Radio Automatic Link Establishment features (ALE2G) to the data transmission, both in reception and transmission mode. When an incoming call is recognized the call is automatically answered and the best communication channel is automatically tuned to grant the best data transmission rate.

This project underlines the flexibility of SITTI systems. These in fact can provide features beyond just switching voice communication patterns, but also allowing the seamless integration of the management of new features, without compromising any of the other functions available to controllers.
